About The Position

Customer Service team members provide in-store services and handle a variety of customer transactions accurately and efficiently while creating a welcoming experience. Services include mailing packages, sending money, cashing checks, and selling licenses. The position is based in a fast-paced retail store environment and requires working scheduled night and weekend shifts. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in situations with limited standardization.
Ability to accurately perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to file, post, and organize materials, copy information accurately between records, and gather basic information.
Ability to guide customers and provide clear, helpful direction professionally.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, team members, and store leadership.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning or sanitation duties.
Availability for night and weekend shifts.

Nice To Haves

Over six months and up to one year of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, friendly service that makes each interaction positive.
Weigh postal packages, meter mail, and process certified, express, UPS, registered, and insured mail.
Process Western Union orders and send customer faxes.
Sell money orders and cash payroll, personal, ADC, and Social Security checks.
Sell hunting and fishing licenses.
Manage utility drawers, process paid outs, and handle the postal department register.
Count daily coupons and process customer and department-approved refunds.
Sign on and off lottery machines, and sell and redeem lottery tickets.
Assist customers with dry cleaning where applicable and process bottle refunds.
Assist customers at registers and in other store areas as needed.
Answer the telephone and use the intercom system according to procedures.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
