About The Position

Hy-Vee Customer Service team members provide friendly, accurate service through a variety of in-store transactions and services. They assist customers with mailing packages, money transfers, check cashing, license purchases, lottery transactions, dry cleaning, bottle refunds, and other store needs. The role involves working in a fast-paced retail environment, maintaining an organized work area, and collaborating with co-workers to support customer satisfaction.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in situations with limited standardization.
Ability to accurately perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to file, post, and organize materials, copy data accurately between records, and gather basic information.
Ability to guide customers and provide clear, helpful direction professionally.
Clear and professional communication with customers, team members, and store leadership.
Over six months up to one year of similar or related work experience preferred.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, friendly service, making interactions positive and welcoming.
Weigh postal packages, meter mail, and process certified, express, UPS, registered, and insured mail.
Process Western Union orders and send customer faxes.
Sell money orders and cash payroll, personal, ADC, and Social Security checks.
Sell hunting and fishing licenses.
Prepare utility drawers, process paid outs, and manage postal department registers.
Count daily coupons and process customer and department-approved refunds.
Operate lottery machines and sell and redeem lottery tickets.
Assist customers with dry cleaning where applicable and process bottle refunds.
Help customers at registers and in other areas of the store as needed.
Answer telephone calls and use the intercom system according to procedures.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
