About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking Customer Service team members to provide in-store services and help customers with transactions such as mailing packages, sending money, cashing checks, and purchasing licenses. The role involves processing a variety of transactions accurately and efficiently while welcoming customers and helping create a positive experience. Team members also assist at registers and elsewhere in the store, maintain an organized work area, and work collaboratively to support customer satisfaction.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in varied situations with limited standardization.
Ability to perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages accurately.
Ability to file, post, and organize materials, copy data accurately between records, and gather basic information.
Ability to guide customers and provide clear, helpful direction professionally.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, team members, and store leadership.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, point-of-sale transactions, and cleaning duties.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required for employment.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
Weigh postal packages, run mail through meters, and process certified, express, UPS, registered, and insured mail.
Process Western Union orders and send customer faxes.
Sell money orders and cash payroll, personal, ADC, and Social Security checks.
Sell hunting and fishing licenses.
Break down and put money in utility drawers and process paid outs.
Sign on to the postal department, break down, and turn off the postal register.
Count daily coupons and process customer refunds and department-approved refunds.
Sign on and off lottery machines and sell and redeem lottery tickets.
Assist customers with dry cleaning where applicable and process bottle refunds.
Assist customers at registers and in other store areas as needed.
Answer the telephone and use the intercom system according to appropriate procedures.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
