Customer Service & Volunteer Intern
About The Position
Under the supervision of the Owens Center Assistant Manager and the Volunteer Manager, the Customer Service & Volunteer Intern will be responsible for assisting front desk staff with customer service functions, maintaining facility appearance, assisting with concession operations and skating programs at the Owens Ice Center. Additionally, the intern will lead and supervise special event volunteers, assist with volunteer recruitment, and perform administrative office duties for the Volunteer Department. The role involves supporting various Peoria Park District events and adhering to all District rules, policies, and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Current active college undergraduate student (Sept 2026 - Dec 2026).
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to focus on detail-oriented tasks.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Some familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist front desk staff with customer service functions such as answering phones, greeting guests, and other operational tasks.
- Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of designated areas.
- Assist with concession operations as needed.
- Assist with assigned duties related to the skating program.
- Lead and supervise special event volunteers at assigned Peoria Park District events and facilities.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and administrative office duties.
- Assist in several Peoria Park District events, as assigned.
- Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support the District’s safety program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
