About The Position

Tallahassee State College (TSC) is seeking part-time Volunteers/Interns for its Adult Education Program. This program offers instructional courses in Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED® Preparation, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to help adults develop essential skills for work, family, and citizenship. The program also aims to equip adult learners for success in post-secondary education. Volunteers/Interns will support the lead instructor in the classroom and adhere to all College policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of relevant experience teaching and/or tutoring adults or young adults related skills such as reading, writing, language arts, math, science, social studies, digital literacy, career and education planning, and test-taking skills.
  • Practical work experience and background that will help facilitate a rich learning environment for diverse adult education populations.

Responsibilities

  • Tutoring students one-on-one or in small groups according to Florida Adult Education Curriculum Frameworks and assigned lesson plans.
  • Assisting the lead instructor in the classroom as needed.
  • Adhering to all College policies and procedures and division and departmental procedures.
  • Successfully completing a criminal background check, which will include fingerprinting.
