About The Position
Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by proactively approaching customers, assessing their needs, and offering assistance. They learn about products using company tools and share information to help customers complete entire projects. Associates learn to greet, qualify, recommend, and close sales in their department, as well as handle basic needs in adjacent departments. They maintain assigned areas in stock, clean, shoppable, and safe. They work cooperatively with their Department Supervisor, department colleagues, and associates in other departments. Store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

Responsibilities

- Greet, qualify, recommend products, and close sales in the assigned department.
- Handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments.
- Maintain assigned areas in stock, clean, shoppable, and safe condition.
- Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
- Immediately correct hazards and unsafe conditions or report them to the Manager on Duty.
- Work safely to avoid endangering oneself, coworkers, vendors, or customers.
- Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in the same and other departments.
