About The Position

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by proactively seeking out customers, assessing their needs, and assisting them. They learn about products using company tools and provide information to help customers complete an entire project. Associates learn to greet, qualify, recommend products to, and close sales with customers in their department, and handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments. They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and keep them clean, shop-able, and safe. They help provide a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing required safety training, correcting hazards and unsafe conditions or reporting them to the Manager on Duty, and working safely. They work with their Department Supervisor and associates in their own and other departments. Store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Seek out customers, assess their needs, and provide assistance.

• Greet, qualify, recommend products to, and close sales with customers in the assigned department.
• Handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments.
• Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and keep them clean, shop-able, and safe.
• Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
• Immediately correct hazards and unsafe conditions or report them to the Manager on Duty.
• Work safely to avoid endangering oneself, co-workers, vendors, or customers.
• Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in the same and other departments.
