About The Position
Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by proactively seeking out customers, assessing their needs, and providing assistance. They learn about products using company tools and share information to help customers sell and complete an entire project. Associates learn to greet, qualify, recommend, and close customers in their department, while also handling basic needs in adjacent departments. Associates maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure they are clean, shop-able, and safe. They are responsible for providing a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing required safety training, correcting hazards or reporting them to the Manager on Duty, and working safely around coworkers, vendors, and customers. They work cooperatively with their Department Supervisor and associates in their own and other departments. Departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.
Responsibilities

- Greet, qualify, recommend products or solutions, and close customers in the assigned department.
- Handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments.
- Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and keep them clean, shop-able, and safe.
- Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
- Immediately correct hazards and unsafe conditions or report them to the Manager on Duty.
- Work safely to avoid endangering oneself, coworkers, vendors, or customers.
- Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in the same and other departments.
