About The Position

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers, assessing their needs, and offering assistance. They learn about products using company tools and provide information to help customers complete an entire project. Associates learn to greet, qualify, recommend, and close customers in their department, while also handling basic needs in adjacent departments. They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure those areas are clean, shop-able, and safe. They help provide a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing required safety training, correcting hazards or reporting them to the Manager on Duty, and working safely around co-workers, vendors, and customers. Associates cooperate with their Department Supervisor and colleagues in their department and other departments. Store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Learn to greet, qualify, recommend products to, and close customers in their department.
• Handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments.
• Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure they are clean, shop-able, and safe.
• Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
• Immediately correct hazards and unsafe conditions or report them to the Manager on Duty.
• Work safely to avoid endangering themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.
• Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in their department and other departments.
