About The Position

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers, assessing their needs, and providing assistance. They learn about products using company tools and share product information to help customers complete entire projects. Associates learn to greet, qualify, recommend, and close customers in their department, and handle basic questions in adjacent departments. They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure those areas are clean, shop-able, and safe. They help provide a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing specified safety training, correcting hazards and unsafe conditions or reporting them to the Manager on Duty, and working safely. Associates cooperate with their Department Supervisor and other associates within and across departments. Store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Learn about products using company tools and provide information to customers to support sales of entire projects.
• Greet, qualify, recommend products to, and close customers in the assigned department; handle basic needs in adjacent departments.
• Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and keep them clean, shop-able, and safe.
• Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
• Immediately correct hazards and unsafe conditions or report them to the Manager on Duty.
• Work safely to avoid endangering oneself, coworkers, vendors, or customers.
• Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in the same and other departments.
