About The Position

Performs a variety of clerical and customer service duties as needed. Applicant will answer phones in the Information Center, take credit card payments, answer general questions relating to the city. Responds to issues, questions and problems posed by customers, in person and over the telephone; provides general information based upon policy Collects receipts and posts credit card payments for utility bills, business licenses, fines, fees, tickets and related city services; follows established processes and procedures based upon department policies. Use City's work order software to record and manage citizen requests. Use of City's utility billing software (Caselle) and other web-based programs. Processes and reviews passport applications and assists the public with Live Scan fingerprint.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school plus two (2) years of responsible experience related to above duties or an equivalent combination of education or experience
  • Considerable knowledge of phone etiquette, general office practices
  • Basic mathematics and accounting preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive customer information
  • Operate personal computer to take credit card payments
  • Look up customer accounts and other web-based programs
  • Operate standard office equipment
  • Develop effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public
  • Employment in this position is conditional upon passing a pre-employment background and drug test
