About The Position

Animal & Bird Clinic of Mission Viejo is hiring three friendly, dependable Customer Service Receptionists who enjoy helping people and thrive in a busy environment. This position is ideal for someone who brings a strong work ethic, a compassionate approach, and the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the person or pet in front of them. Veterinary experience is helpful, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are what matter most. This role is an important connection between our clients and the medical team, helping to create a smoother, more compassionate experience for everyone. Requirements

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Compassion for pets and the people who love them.
  • The ability to respond to clients’ emotions with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
  • The ability to manage several calls, records, and client needs at the same time.
  • A dependable work ethic and willingness to learn on the job.
  • A positive, fun, and friendly attitude.
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • The physical ability to lift at least 45 pounds.
  • Willingness to work weekend hours and participate in shared cleaning responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service or veterinary reception experience preferred; training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls using a five-line telephone system.
  • Schedule appointments and help manage the hospital’s daily calendar.
  • Monitor and respond to client emails.
  • Make outbound calls to follow up with pet owners.
  • Contact other veterinary hospitals to request medical records for shared patients.
  • Check patients and clients in and out efficiently.
  • Present and explain charges for veterinary services.
  • Process payments accurately and professionally.
  • Answer client questions about hospital products and services.
  • Educate clients about non-medical pet-care topics, including heartworm prevention, flea prevention, house-training, and local training resources.
  • Manage electronic medical records, patient charts, and client correspondence.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Help keep the interior and exterior of the hospital neat and presentable.
  • Participate in shared opening and closing cleaning duties.
  • Clean animal waste from the lobby and other hospital areas when needed.
