Grant County Public Utility District•Ephrata, WA
•$41 - $57

About The Position

Grant County PUD is hiring one Customer Service Engineering Technician at a level ranging from I through V. Employees develop or demonstrate technical skills in surveying, construction drawings, power-line design, customer service policies, work-order preparation and closing, and distribution-system engineering. The role progresses from performing routine tasks with assistance or supervision to independently designing overhead and underground electrical systems, coordinating construction and customer needs, and, at Level V, effectively supervising assigned employees. Employees at higher levels work in Customer Engineering. They provide customers with information about receiving service, assess technical inquiries and new-construction needs, coordinate designs and construction activities with PUD staff and external utilities, and may inspect completed construction. Level V employees also schedule and meet with customers, advise on electrical installations, coordinate distribution-system extensions and maintenance, and keep informed about work orders, service requests, paperwork, and construction schedules. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Washington State driver's license, aptitude for engineering, surveying, math, drafting, and computer-aided drafting, legible printing and writing, and the ability to work with the public. Applicants must have working knowledge of basic electrical theory and its application to electric utility operations, or agree to enroll in an approved curriculum and complete it within three years after hire, as well as complete required on-the-job training. A background check and pre-employment drug screen will be conducted after a contingent offer. The full list of requirements is referenced in the Physical Capacity Evaluation (PCE).
