About The Position

The Customer Quality Engineer ensures products and manufacturing processes meet customer, regulatory, industry, and company standards. This role utilizes advanced statistical tools and problem-solving methodologies to establish, maintain, and continuously improve product and process quality. The engineer will work directly with customers, supplier quality, and subcontractors to plan, develop, and implement quality activities such as PPAP and Control Plans. A key aspect of this role is making data-driven decisions that promote corporate goals and core principles, with a strong focus on the timeliness of results. The position involves writing and implementing quality system standards, procedures, and work instructions, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and TS16949 standards. The engineer will partner with cross-functional teams to foster a positive and productive quality culture and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Building strong customer relationships based on trust and partnership is essential, as is communicating customer-specific requirements to internal and external partners. The role includes performing product, process, and systems audits, and executing quality duties such as Cpk, SPC, 8D, and Corrective and Preventive Action activities. Analyzing problems and developing timely solutions, managing non-conforming material, and validating deviations are also key responsibilities. The engineer may be required to stop production or shipments if necessary and will train quality department and other personnel. Assuring the timely completion of APQP and Launch activities and maintaining positive working relationships with customers, subcontractors, and PSAM departments are crucial. The role also involves monitoring and reporting quality function performance and undertaking other assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Two (2) year degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing or quality engineering.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in automotive industry’s quality functions (e.g. PPAP, FMEA, SPC and Control Plans).
  • Exceptional communication skills, including verbal, written, conflict resolution and negotiation skills are required.
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and analytical tools.

Nice To Haves

  • A Working knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, and technical specifications interpretation is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of measurement systems analysis and laboratory measurement equipment and hand tools is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of calibration systems and testing laboratory procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Stop production or shipments to the customer if required.
  • Train quality department and other personnel as required.
  • Assure timely and successful completion of APQP and Launch activities.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with customers, subcontractors, and PSAM departments and groups.
  • Monitor and report quality function performance as required.
  • Perform other projects and duties assigned by the External Quality Manager.
