Customer Quality Engineer

IntelliPro Group Inc.•San Francisco, CA
•$160,000 - $210,000

About The Position

IntelliPro is hiring a Customer Quality Engineer for a global analog and power management semiconductor company. This customer-interface role spans quality, technical, project, and customer-facing work. Internally, the engineer serves as a hub for customer requirements; externally, the engineer represents the company's quality function to key datacenter, automotive, and commercial customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronics/Semiconductor, Microelectronics, Materials, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor customer quality.
  • Knowledge of IC manufacturing, CP/FT testing, and reliability testing, including HTOL/ORT and Latch-up.
  • Hands-on experience with quality tools including 8D, 5Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and CAPA; familiarity with IQC, shipment gate, and Lot Hold control processes.
  • Deep understanding of reliability concepts, physics of failure, test methodologies, and applicable IC industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Design for Reliability (DfR) and FMEA methods, with experience in reliability modeling, assessment, and prediction.
  • Fundamental failure-analysis literacy: ability to read FA, DOE, and reliability data, spot gaps in reports, and request supplementary evidence internally.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams, drive R&D/Process teams to deliver action items on time, detect delay risks, and escalate them.
  • Strong English reading, writing, and speaking skills; ability to independently review customers' English quality documentation, write 8D/GWP corrective reports, and attend customer meetings in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Power IC industry background preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive customer quality deviations, returns, and failed samples; own 8D reports and corrective action plans; coordinate failure analysis (FA), design of experiments (DOE), and reliability testing; drive root cause identification, containment, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) implementation; and submit formal corrective evidence to customers.
  • For customer complaints and batch quality anomalies, recommend Lot Hold, shipment stops, and priority allocation of failure-analysis resources.
  • Maintain the customer quality action tracker; monitor complaint PPM, issue-closure cycle time, and customer quality scorecards; identify systemic quality risks and escalate them to leadership.
  • Feed customer-side quality pain points back to R&D, Process, Wafer, and Test teams; drive DFMEA/PFMEA updates, tighter test specifications, and improved monitoring; and address recurring failures with systemic CAPA rather than one-off fixes.
  • Organize and attend monthly customer quality reviews; prepare reporting materials; align action items and committed delivery dates (ECD); and communicate risks and delays.
  • Manage written outputs to customers so that all responses are traceable.
  • Coordinate receipt and internal routing of customer-returned failed samples; secure FA and TEM/FIB analysis resources; and archive complete failure reports and test data as customer evidence.
