About The Position

The Custodian assists the facilities team in maintaining a clean, safe, and presentable facility and preserving organizational assets through established cleaning and housekeeping practices. The role includes opening and/or closing the building, cleaning assigned areas, operating cleaning equipment, supporting public events, handling supplies, and helping identify and report repair needs. The position may also involve seasonal outdoor duties in inclement weather and working in the presence of students with disabilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years of custodial work is mandatory.
• Ability to lift at least 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort working in the presence of students with disabilities.
• Demonstrated experience handling responsibility.
• Applicants conditionally considered for employment must submit to a drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Open and/or close the building for daily functions, including using automated building security systems.
• Clean assigned areas according to established schedules, including offices, common work and eating spaces, restrooms, kitchenettes, and cafeterias.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as removing trash, sweeping or dust-mopping floors, polishing hard surfaces, cleaning windows and mirrors, and dusting office furniture and equipment.
• Use equipment such as auto scrubbers, carpet machines, and pressure washers.
• Arrange, set up, and/or tear down equipment and staging for public events.
• Work from diagrams and written and/or verbal instructions.
• Use computers and handheld devices as needed.
• Perform seasonal duties in inclement weather, which may include picking up trash and debris from the grounds.
• Load and unload departmental supplies and occasional shipments for building functions.
• Help the facilities team identify items needing repair and enter work orders into the CMMS.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
