About The Position

The Custodian assists the facilities team in providing a clean, safe, and presentable facility and helps preserve the organization’s assets by following best practices in cleaning and housekeeping. The role is responsible to the Facilities Maintenance/Custodial Manager. The salary is $20–$23.90 per hour, per the USW CBA (New).

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One to two years of custodial work; mandatory.
Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort working in the presence of students with disabilities.
Demonstrated experience handling responsibility.
Proficiency working with computers and handheld devices.
Applicants conditionally considered for employment must submit to a drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

Open and/or close the building for daily functions, including working with automated building security systems.
Clean assigned areas according to established schedules, including administrative offices, common working and eating spaces, restrooms, kitchenettes, and cafeterias.
Perform cleaning duties using prescribed methods, including trash removal, sweeping or dust mopping floors, polishing hard surfaces, cleaning windows and mirrors, and dusting office furniture and equipment.
Use equipment such as auto scrubbers, carpet machines, and pressure washers.
Arrange, set up, and/or tear down equipment and staging for public events.
Work from diagrams and written and/or verbal instructions.
Work in inclement weather to perform seasonal duties, which may include picking up trash and debris from the grounds.
Load and unload departmental supplies and occasional shipments for building functions.
Assist the facilities team in identifying items in need of repair and entering work orders into the CMMS.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
