About The Position

PSS is seeking a Custodian for one of its senior centers. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the facility’s general cleanliness and helping ensure the center is welcoming and safe for members and visitors. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting directly to the Program Director. Work locations may change when coverage is needed at another OAC or an OAC is temporarily closed. Occasional weekend, holiday, and evening hours may be required, including cooling center hours during the summer.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Experience with and knowledge of current cleaning methods.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Maturity and good judgment when relating to peers, partners, and families.
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Availability, dependability, and willingness to be flexible.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and think strategically.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with older adults.
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness throughout the center, including bathrooms, offices, and common areas.
Serve lunch to members when needed.
Sweep, mop, strip, and wax floors.
Build, move, and replace furniture as needed.
Paint the center and perform minor repairs as needed.
Clean large and small appliances and equipment.
Remove dust from ventilation ducts and change light bulbs.
Clean and wash fans.
Remove garbage daily and wash garbage cans and containers, including individual waste baskets.
Clear snow or debris from the entryway to provide safe access to the center.
Restock custodial supplies and keep the storage area organized.
Help cover the front desk and main entrance by assisting members as they enter, serving as a security checkpoint.
Notify the Director when supplies are needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
