Custodian (Full-time)
About The Position
Tyndale is hiring a full-time Custodian for its Carol Stream, Illinois campus. The role helps keep office and warehouse facilities clean, safe, and welcoming for employees and visitors. The Custodian joins Tyndale’s housekeeping team, works alongside janitorial and maintenance staff, and reports to the Facilities Supervisor. Responsibilities include cleaning and restocking restrooms; sanitizing break rooms and common areas; completing scheduled office cleaning; maintaining floors, carpets, windows, doors, and assigned surfaces; removing waste from the office building and warehouse; monitoring janitorial supplies; and promptly reporting shortages, safety concerns, and maintenance issues.

- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail, with a professional demeanor and commitment to quality service.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle a variety of cleaning tasks.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to bend, kneel, and reach, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work safely in warehouse and office environments, including around warehouse equipment, moving traffic, and employees during normal business operations, and to safely use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Personal alignment with and adherence to the Bible as God’s Word, and agreement with Tyndale’s Statement of Faith.
Nice To Haves
- One year of janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping experience is preferred, though Tyndale is willing to train the right person.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, spoken and written, is preferred; the ability to communicate effectively with English- and Spanish-speaking employees is highly desirable.
- Including a cover letter explaining interest in Tyndale and the role is highly recommended.
Responsibilities
- Clean, sanitize, and fully restock restrooms.
- Sanitize break room tables, countertops, sinks, appliances, and floors; maintain walkways and shared spaces.
- Perform scheduled dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and surface cleaning in offices.
- Mop designated areas; vacuum entry mats, runners, and carpets; clean interior windows, doors, and assigned surfaces.
- Empty and properly dispose of trash throughout the office building and warehouse.
- Monitor janitorial supply levels and report shortages, safety concerns, and maintenance issues promptly.
- Work alongside janitorial and maintenance staff to help keep facilities clean, safe, and welcoming.
