About The Position

The Custodian provides custodial services at an assigned site to maintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role includes special cleaning operations and helping prepare facilities for classroom activities and campus events. The position reports to the Head Custodian.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned facilities and grounds, including classrooms, offices, gyms, restrooms, and multipurpose rooms.
Maintain furnace operation, including water levels, coal, and clinker, where applicable.
Monitor and promptly report unsafe or hazardous situations to the supervisor.
Monitor student activities in and around work areas to prevent injuries and maintain site safety.
Monitor chemicals used in the building and know MSDS procedures and the locations of emergency shutoffs.
Monitor utility usage and recommend ways to manage usage cost-effectively.
Operate, clean, and maintain coal or gas boilers to support safe and energy-efficient facility operation.
Perform custodial work such as stripping and waxing floors, cleaning carpets, refinishing floors, moving furniture, and painting.
Perform minor job-related maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures.
Prepare the site for daily operations, including opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways, and removing snow.
Replenish classroom and restroom supplies.
Secure facilities and grounds by checking doors, gates, alarms, and lights.
Support other site maintenance staff with custodial activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
