About The Position

The Custodian performs cleaning and general upkeep of the store, including maintaining restrooms, break rooms, the sales floor, back room, front end, parking lot, and surrounding grounds. The role helps maintain sanitation and safety, keeps cleaning equipment in good repair, and notifies store management about maintenance needs or unsafe conditions. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and no prior experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, wash, mop, and perform general cleanup work.
• Clean restrooms and break rooms; replenish supplies and dispose of wastepaper.
• Keep the building and surrounding grounds orderly.
• Operate motor-driven cleaning equipment if over 18 and provided training.
• Maintain cleaning equipment in good repair.
• Assist with or make cardboard bales as needed.
• Maintain the sales floor and help keep it free of slip and trip hazards.
• Clear sidewalks and the porch of snow and ice as needed.
• Dispose of trash and debris in the back room, break room, front end, and parking lot.
• Notify store management when repairs or maintenance may be required or when unsafe conditions are observed that require additional attention.
• Inform the front-end manager when more supplies are needed.
• Assist department managers in meeting sanitation requirements, including maintaining and sanitizing sink traps properly.
• Cooperate with co-workers and superiors to support the smooth functioning of the department and store.
• Continuously improve job performance.
• Perform other duties as required by the store manager.
