About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial and hazardous-waste duties, operates motorized cleaning equipment, maintains assigned spaces, and follows applicable safety and company procedures. The position works with other employees, takes direction from supervisors, and communicates professionally with coworkers, managers, leads, and customers. It has no supervisory responsibilities. No specific education is required. Three to six months of training or experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements. Completion of safety and task-training certification is required, and forklift certification may be required. The work requires frequent sitting, talking, or listening and the ability to lift or move up to 35 pounds. Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all safety and task-training certification.

Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform repetitive tasks and work with other employees as a team.
Maintain a clean work area and follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
