About The Position

The Custodian helps keep the distribution center clean, safe, and operational. The role cleans warehouse and office areas, restrooms, breakrooms, common areas, dock areas, staging zones, and exterior spaces. It also includes waste and recycling management, responding to hazards, operating and checking floor-cleaning equipment, monitoring cleaning supplies, and following applicable safety, environmental, and health requirements. The custodian collaborates with warehouse staff and may assist with special projects, minor maintenance, furniture moving, and other duties assigned by management.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in warehouse and office areas.
Clean restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas; sanitize surfaces and restock supplies.
Dust shelves, windowsills, and other surfaces.
Empty trash and recycling containers, dispose of waste according to company and local regulations, and monitor disposal areas for overflow or hazards.
Clear debris and spills from warehouse aisles and workstations; clean dock areas and staging zones; wipe down warehouse equipment, racks, and other surfaces.
Respond promptly to spills, leaks, and other hazards using appropriate cleaning materials.
Use and store cleaning chemicals safely according to OSHA guidelines.
Keep emergency exits and pathways clear of obstructions.
Operate floor-cleaning machines such as scrubbers or sweepers, perform routine equipment checks, and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to supervisors.
Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, maintain an inventory of cleaning products, and request restocking orders.
Communicate with warehouse managers and staff about cleaning needs or concerns.
Assist with cleaning for special projects or events.
Keep parking lots, loading docks, entrances, and other outdoor areas clean and free of debris; remove snow, ice, or other weather-related hazards when necessary.
Follow safety procedures and company cleaning policies, and comply with environmental and health regulations.
Perform additional management-assigned tasks, including assisting with minor maintenance projects or moving furniture.
