About The Position

The Custodian performs general maintenance and housekeeping for the Area Command and maintains the facilities’ safety, neatness, and cleanliness daily. The role includes facilities cleaning responsibilities and other assigned responsibilities. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, with exposure to dirt, dust, disagreeable sights or odors, and varying temperatures. The position requires substantial physical effort, including frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

Six months of experience performing general janitorial and general maintenance duties, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving lifting and carrying heavy objects, including objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Ability to exert the physical energy required for janitorial work.
Ability to squat, climb, bend, and walk; duties are primarily performed standing, with brief or occasional periods of sitting possible.
