About The Position

DM Burr is hiring a part-time first-shift Custodian to clean and care for an assigned facility at MSU College of Human Medicine in Flint, Michigan. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The wage is $13.75 per hour, and DailyPay is available. The role involves using approved cleaning methods and supplies, operating and maintaining floor-cleaning equipment, cleaning and stocking restrooms and shared areas, documenting completed work, and reporting maintenance or safety concerns. Light building maintenance may also be required.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or technical school certification.
Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
0–6 months of custodial or janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, and stripping machines.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies.
Ability to follow basic verbal and written instructions.
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Team aptitude and approach.

Responsibilities

Use approved methods and materials to clean and care for the assigned facility.
Operate and maintain equipment such as auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines, and vacuums.
Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
Empty trash receptacles.
Remove stains from rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions as needed.
Clean furniture, window sills, and walls; dust and wash walls; clean ceilings; and polish light fixtures.
Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas.
Clean and stock restrooms, the janitorial closet, and break rooms.
Record and document cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report to the Supervisor.
Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
Report major safety items requiring repair.
Perform other duties as assigned.
