About The Position

DM Burr is hiring a part-time Custodian for second shift at the Oak Park School District. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and the wage is $16.75 per hour. The position includes a $200 hiring bonus after 90 days and access to DailyPay, allowing employees to work today and get paid tomorrow. The Custodian cleans and cares for an assigned facility using approved methods, materials, and equipment. Duties include floor care, general cleaning, restroom and break-room upkeep, documenting completed work, and reporting maintenance or safety issues. The role may also involve light building maintenance and other assigned duties. DM Burr is a privately owned building-maintenance provider that serves schools, government and public facilities, manufacturing plants, financial institutions, retail centers, and other areas. The company has more than 1,000 team members throughout Michigan.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or technical school certification.
Self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
0–6 months of custodial or janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, and stripping machines.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies.
Ability to follow basic verbal and written instructions.
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Team aptitude and a team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

Use approved methods and materials to clean and care for the assigned facility.
Operate and maintain auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and floor-cleaning machines.
Empty trash receptacles.
Remove stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions, as needed.
Clean furniture, window sills, and walls; dust and wash walls; clean ceilings; and polish light fixtures.
Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas.
Clean and stock restrooms, the janitorial closet, and break rooms.
Record and document cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report them to the Supervisor.
Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
Report major safety items requiring repair.
Perform other duties as assigned.
