About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs scheduled janitorial work, maintains the assigned area and cleaning equipment, and follows applicable safety procedures and company policies. It also includes handling special and hazardous waste, using motorized cleaning equipment, and supporting the shift lead and team as needed. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• No specific education requirement.
• Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Complete all safety and task training certifications.
• A valid driver's license may be required depending on business needs. Employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, cleaning compounds, and chemicals, including their safe and efficient use.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual ability.
• May be required to be forklift certified.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
• Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
• Maintain the daily upkeep of the assigned area and keep the work area clean.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor; comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures; and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
• Perform work assignments as part of a team, including repetitive tasks, and fill in during staff shortages.
• Support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
• Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
• Follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
• Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
