About The Position

The Custodian is a collaborative member of the Kroc team, providing customer service to internal and external customers in support of the Kroc Center’s programs and mission. The role focuses on housekeeping and assisting team members with daily operations to provide a clean, healthy, safe, and welcoming environment for employees, members, guests, and volunteers.

This part-time role works up to 18 hours per week and pays $14.86 per hour. Candidates need flexible availability for shifts from early mornings to evenings, including rotating Saturdays. A $1.00-per-hour shift differential applies to shifts worked from 4:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The position also requires availability for days, weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

The job takes place in a busy community center that includes office, gymnasium, aquatics, and event spaces. The building is climate controlled, though some areas may be humid or vary in temperature. Work may also involve outdoor events and exposure to prevailing weather. Noise levels range from low to loud.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while remaining responsive and detail-oriented.
• Ability to interact positively and professionally with coworkers and the public.
• Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Exercise good judgment in personal actions.
• Ability to read, interpret, and implement work orders.
• Ability to read and understand MSDS sheets.
• Availability for shifts ranging from early mornings to evenings, including rotating Saturdays, and for days, weeknights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to perform the stated physical duties, including occasionally lifting or moving up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping activities to maintain a clean and healthy environment, using cleaning chemicals and equipment such as mops and buckets, carpet vacuums and extractors, floor machines, power washers, and scrubbers.
• Maintain and stock restrooms and common areas, including soap dispensers, towels, and waste cans, with repeated attention as facility use requires.
• Respond promptly to radio calls and other requests for facilities assistance, communicating effectively and helping meet facility needs.
• Receive deliveries, store items properly, or notify the appropriate contact about deliveries.
• Assist facilities crew members with light maintenance and setup or teardown activities as needed.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including protective gloves, safety glasses, and lifting belts.
• Perform tasks related to the care, maintenance, and repair of assets used for programs and events.
• Provide customer service and support the effective daily operation of the Kroc Center.
