About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role includes janitorial work, scheduled upkeep, hazardous-waste handling, and operation and care of cleaning equipment. The Custodian follows safety rules and company procedures, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, and works with team members and supervisors to maintain a clean, safe environment and support customer satisfaction. Driving to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily and safely.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Complete all safety and task training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual ability.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Perform hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
Maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, protocols, and company rules.
Stop at-risk behavior by oneself and others.
Perform work assignments as part of a team and complete repetitive tasks.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
