About The Position

The Custodian/Janitor maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and order throughout assigned facility areas, helping provide a clean and safe environment for staff, visitors, and customers. The role involves routine cleaning and waste disposal, stocking supplies, responding to spills, and performing light maintenance. The custodian also operates and maintains cleaning equipment, conducts security checks after cleaning, and helps set up and take down rooms for meetings or events. The position may involve work in offices, restrooms, warehouses, and outdoor areas, and requires adherence to applicable safety and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, FAA, DOT, and state and federal regulations. Flexible hours and different shifts may be required. Employees are expected to follow company values, policies, and procedures, protect confidential information, meet work schedule requirements, pursue continuous improvement, and perform other duties as assigned. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The employer states that it does not currently have plans to sponsor candidates.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience.
English and Spanish language skills.
Basic knowledge of cleaning practices and safety procedures.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb ladders or step stools frequently.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and arms, such as wiping and scrubbing.
Tolerance to exposure to cleaning chemicals.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying temperatures.
Ability to wear protective gear as required or needed, such as gloves, a mask, or safety glasses.
Ability to work in a safe, professional manner while adhering to applicable regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, FAA, DOT, and state and federal regulations.
Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned areas.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, offices, and common areas.
Keep relevant areas and supplies adequately stocked, including restroom and cleaning supplies, soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Collect and dispose of trash and recycling appropriately.
Clean interior glass, windows, walls, doors, and light fixtures.
Report and address minor maintenance issues, such as leaky faucets, burned-out light bulbs, or damaged furniture.
Coordinate with the maintenance department on more significant repairs.
Safely operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including floor buffers and power washers.
Conduct routine security checks and lock doors and windows after cleaning.
Monitor cleaning supplies and request replenishment as needed.
Follow safety protocols for cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
Respond promptly to spills or accidents to help ensure employee and guest safety.
Assist with setting up and taking down rooms for meetings or events, including moving tables, chairs, and equipment.
Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and buffers as needed.
Comply with company values, department norms, policies, directives, procedures, and work schedule requirements.
Protect confidential and proprietary documents and information, strive for continuous improvement, and perform other duties as assigned.
