About The Position

The Custodian maintains cleanliness, safety, and appearance across two affordable housing apartment properties in Millcreek, one with 150 units and one with 55 units. The role works closely with onsite Maintenance Technicians and Property Managers to keep buildings and grounds well cared for. Duties include cleaning shared spaces, removing trash and recycling, completing minor repairs, assisting with special and seasonal projects, monitoring cleaning supplies, and reporting maintenance or safety issues. The position requires following safety, health, and sanitation procedures and interacting respectfully with residents, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, safety practices, and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and operate standard cleaning and maintenance equipment.
• Detail-oriented and dependable, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with residents, staff, and visitors.
• Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, climb, and reach.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial and cleaning duties in common areas, including foyers, hallways, elevators, laundry rooms, restrooms, community spaces, and ceiling vents.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, disinfect, and sanitize surfaces as needed.
• Remove trash and recycling and maintain clean, odor-free dumpster and trash areas.
• Regularly clean windows, entry doors, glass surfaces, and high-traffic touchpoints.
• Complete minor repairs, such as changing light fixtures or unclogging drains.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and seasonal tasks.
• Monitor cleaning-supply inventory and request orders when needed.
• Promptly report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or deficiencies to management.
• Support maintenance staff and cooperate with onsite team members.
• Follow safety, health, and sanitation procedures.
