About The Position

Custodians provide a clean, safe, high-quality facility that supports IDEA’s commitment to an enhanced learning environment. The role includes completing daily cleaning and assigned work orders, maintaining custodial supplies and equipment, following safety procedures, and working with the Facilities Manager on facility needs. Custodians are expected to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, flexibility, sound judgment, and a team-oriented approach. The position may require working longer hours as needed to meet mission goals.

Requirements

Ability to understand cleaning, maintenance, and safety instructions.
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
Execute assigned work orders, with the goal of completing 90% of campus projects within 48 hours.
Complete daily cleaning responsibilities with attention to detail.
Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facilities needs for capital expenditures planning.
Work safely, complete SafeSchools training by the deadline, and use personal protective equipment 100% of the time.
Keep all chemicals on hand locked and immediately report unsafe campus conditions.
Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently within campus cost-per-square-foot and energy-use allocations.
Minimize material consumption, maintain an accurate inventory log, and order supplies from the Facilities Manager within campus guidelines.
Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance, punctuality, and flexibility.
Follow the work schedule, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment; work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals.
