Custodian
About The Position
Maintain appropriate sanitation levels in and around company facilities while following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures. The role involves cleaning and maintaining hallways, stairs, breakrooms, office spaces, warehouses, freezer areas, and grounds. The custodian may also maintain cleaning supplies and equipment, work with machinery and material handling equipment, and handle cleaning chemicals. Work may involve cold storage temperatures as low as -20 Fahrenheit/-25 Celsius or dry storage temperatures up to 100 Fahrenheit/37 Celsius while wearing company-provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear. The position offers an opportunity to begin a career path within Lineage, with the possibility of taking on greater responsibilities and promotions.
Requirements
- Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment and pallet jacks.
- Comfort handling cleaning chemicals.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to understand instructions in the country’s official language or as defined by Lineage Logistics.
- Ability to work in temperatures as low as -20 Fahrenheit/-25 Celsius in cold storage sites or up to 100 Fahrenheit/37 Celsius in dry storage sites while wearing company-provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs./9 kgs.; weight may be more depending on the facility.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule and shift, including weekends if needed.
- Comfort working around varying noise levels, which can sometimes be loud.
Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, breakrooms, and office spaces.
- Wash and sweep inside the facility and pick up discarded trash.
- Perform general maintenance throughout the facility, including warehouse and freezer areas.
- Remove ice and pick up pieces of pallets.
- Keep grounds clean and free of debris.
- Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are in good working condition and properly secured after use, and maintain stock levels by taking routine stock checks as needed.
- Work with other machinery and material handling equipment.
