About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role involves performing janitorial duties, following a daily work schedule, maintaining assigned areas and equipment, and handling special and hazardous waste according to applicable procedures. The Custodian works with other employees, follows direction and safety protocols, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, and supports the shift lead as needed. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• No specific education requirement.
• Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily and safely.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
• Complete all safety and task training certifications.
• If driving is required, maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bilingual ability.
• A valid driver's license, if required based on business needs.
• Forklift certification, if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties and complete all duties listed on the daily schedule.
• Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
• Maintain daily cleanliness of the assigned area and keep the work area clean.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
• Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, protocols, and company rules.
• Stop at-risk behavior by oneself and others, and use proper personal protective equipment.
• Perform repetitive tasks and work as part of a team.
• Take direction and respond to supervision.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
• Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, and understand customer service, satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
