About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for cleanliness and sanitation in all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial work and scheduled duties, maintains the assigned area and cleaning equipment, and follows safety requirements and company procedures. It also includes handling hazardous and special waste, operating motorized cleaning equipment, reporting incidents or unsafe conditions, and supporting the shift lead and team as needed. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work is offered on one of three shifts, with schedules that include Wednesday through Sunday, Friday through Tuesday, or Thursday through Monday. Pay is $16.30–$17.30 per hour.

Requirements

Ability to perform the essential duties safely and satisfactorily.
No specific education requirement.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Completion of all required safety and task-training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required.
Forklift certification may be required.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
Bilingual ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and complete all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship, receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Work collaboratively with other employees and perform repetitive tasks.
Follow company protocols, procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct and understand customer service, satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
