About The Position

Williams College is hiring Custodians to join its Custodial Services team in the Facilities Department. The department operates and maintains a safe, beautiful, and sustainable environment for living and learning. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, year-round position eligible for Williams College’s comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but may change based on departmental needs. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required. The position is eligible for premium pay, including overtime and applicable shift differentials, for work on holidays, weekends, emergency snow response, and other qualifying shifts. Pay is $20.75–$22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Ability to follow operating manuals, safety data sheets, safety rules, and regulations related to personal protection and safe equipment and chemical use.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and sanitizing dispensing units.
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to utilize wearable equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in general cleaning, maintenance, carpet care, and floor care.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning throughout designated campus areas.
• Perform light maintenance work.
• Shovel snow during winter.
• Make beds during the summer conference season.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
