About The Position

The Custodian cleans and sanitizes a fitness club, including restrooms, locker rooms, shower rooms, waste areas, windows, walls, flooring, and other facility surfaces. The role also maintains organized storage areas, monitors cleaning-supply inventory, follows cleaning lists and assigned tasks, and may assist with front desk operations and Point of Sale use. The position requires communication with members and a high level of member service. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. It operates in a fitness club environment, uses standard custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals, may involve loud noise, and requires work in lavatory areas. Scheduled hours are set according to business needs during normal club operating hours; work may also be required outside scheduled shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight. Travel is not expected.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Excellent attendance and punctuality skills.
Great communication skills with internal and external customers.
Must be team oriented, motivated, and well organized.
Ability to think critically and proactively evaluate solutions to problems.
Must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work hours that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, or overnight as required.

Custodial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Thoroughly clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, shower rooms, stall walls and doors, and waste areas.
Inspect and clean interior and exterior windows and window frames.
Detail-clean baseboards, wall trim, walls, and handrails; keep surfaces free of handprints, scuff marks, and dust.
Dust and clean air vents, TVs, signage, storage or glass doors, and light fixtures.
Assist with front desk operations as needed, including use of Point of Sale.
Follow cleaning lists and complete other assigned tasks.
Remove trash from waste areas or push it down.
Clean rubber and tile flooring throughout the gym, auxiliary rooms, and under gym equipment using a vacuum, floor scrubber, and mop.
Operate a floor scrubber and vacuum cleaner.
Communicate with members and provide a high level of member service.
Keep storage rooms clean and organized and arrange products properly on shelving racks.
Discard loose boxes and trash.
Notify club management when cleaning-supply inventory is low and needs replenishment.
