About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for keeping all assigned areas clean and sanitary. The role performs janitorial and scheduled duties, maintains the assigned area, and handles special and hazardous waste activities. The Custodian operates motorized cleaning equipment, follows safety procedures, uses appropriate personal protective equipment, and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor. The position works as part of a team, responds to supervision, supports the shift lead, and maintains professional conduct and customer service.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all required safety and task training certifications.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
A valid driver’s license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability is a plus.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures; stop at-risk behavior by oneself and others.
Perform repetitive tasks and work with other employees as a team.
Follow company protocols, procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Support customer service and satisfaction and understand reporting systems and the work environment.
