About The Position

The Saratoga Regional YMCA is hiring a Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and positive environment for members, guests, and staff. The role is responsible for general facility maintenance and helping create a welcoming atmosphere in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. It supports YMCA programs focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. The required weekday opening shift is 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, and pay is $17.48 per hour. The position offers a fun, interactive atmosphere, competitive pay, and a free YMCA membership.

Requirements

Minimum age of 17 years old.
Must be able to furnish working papers.
Current CPR PRO and First Aid certifications are required within 90 days.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
Basic understanding of equipment upkeep and care.
Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.

Nice To Haves

Prior cleaning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility, including the childcare center, bathrooms, locker rooms, hallways, program and office spaces, floors, windows, doors, storage areas, and other areas.
Read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Report and record maintenance requests.
Perform cleaning tasks outside assigned areas, including grounds maintenance, trash removal, window washing, and other assigned tasks.
Move furniture and equipment as needed to clean areas properly.
Prepare and clean rooms for meetings and events, including setting up and breaking down seating and equipment.
Refill supplies such as toilet tissue, towels, and soap.
Articulate and model the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Attend staff meetings and in-service training.
Wear required and approved uniform items at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
