About The Position

The Custodial Specialist maintains the cleanliness and order of the buildings and grounds at all three Esperanza Health Center sites. The role provides environmental services using cleaning equipment, machines, and supplies; performs cleaning, sanitation, and other custodial tasks; participates in seasonal maintenance projects such as snow removal and landscaping; and attends to emergencies. The position travels between sites as assigned and works evenings and weekends, typically on a schedule between 5–9 PM for 15–20 hours per week. The position may be cross-trained with on-site security at a later date. It also involves attending safety and related meetings and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge of health care systems and related services.

Ability to bend, shovel, twist, and climb stairs and ladders.

Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize restrooms and bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; and refill restroom dispensers.
Assist with setting up facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events.
Strip, clean, and buff hard-surface floors and apply floor sealer and finish; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools for cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
Wash walls and equipment, using ladders when required.
Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure facilities when not in use by checking doors and windows, reporting unauthorized occupants, and turning off lights.
Follow instructions for the use of chemicals and supplies.
Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools on an incidental basis.
Wash accessible interior and exterior windows, clean blinds, and launder cleaning rags and mops.
Wash dishes or utensils as required.
Perform cleanup and maintenance projects as requested.
Maintain the cleanliness and general orderliness of the interior and exterior of all sites.
Participate in seasonal projects, including snow removal, landscaping, and window washing.
Provide custodial services at retreats as requested.
Attend to emergencies when necessary.
Attend safety and other related meetings.
Perform related duties as assigned.
