About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role includes janitorial work, maintaining assigned spaces, operating motorized cleaning equipment, and handling hazardous waste according to applicable responsibilities and procedures. The Custodian follows safety rules and company protocols, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, uses proper personal protective equipment, and works cooperatively with colleagues and customers. Travel to work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and safely.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Completion of all safety and task training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual ability is a plus.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily cleanliness and upkeep of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform repetitive tasks and complete work assignments as part of a team.
Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities when necessary to perform essential job functions.
