About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial duties, follows daily schedules, maintains cleaning equipment and work areas, and handles hazardous waste responsibilities. The position requires following safety procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment, communicating professionally, and working with a team under supervision. Other duties may be assigned or changed as needed.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all required safety and task-training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, cleaning-equipment care, and cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability is a plus.
Three to six months of training or experience.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily cleanliness and upkeep of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor; stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, company protocols, and other rules.
Perform work assignments with other employees and complete repetitive tasks.
Take direction and respond to supervision; support the shift lead with punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain professional conduct and appearance.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
