About The Position

The Custodian helps maintain clean, safe, and welcoming Saratoga Regional YMCA facilities for members, guests, and staff. The role is responsible for general facility maintenance in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures and supports the YMCA’s programs and community spaces. The position is part-time and scheduled Saturdays and Sundays from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at $17.48 per hour.

Requirements

Must be at least 17 years old.
Must be able to furnish working papers.
Current CPR PRO and First Aid certifications are required within 90 days.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
Basic understanding of equipment care and upkeep.
Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.

Nice To Haves

Prior cleaning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility, including childcare areas, bathrooms, locker rooms, hallways, program and office spaces, floors, windows, doors, and storage areas.
Perform cleaning and maintenance outside assigned areas, including grounds maintenance, trash removal, and window washing.
Read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Report and record maintenance requests.
Use cleaning methods, equipment, compounds, and chemicals safely and efficiently.
Provide basic care and upkeep of equipment.
Move furniture and equipment as needed to clean areas properly.
Prepare and clean rooms for meetings and events, including setting up and breaking down seating and equipment.
Refill supplies such as toilet tissue, towels, and soap.
Model the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Attend staff meetings and in-service training.
Wear required and approved uniform items.
Perform other duties as assigned.
