About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas. The role performs janitorial and scheduled duties, maintains assigned areas and cleaning equipment, and carries out hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. The Custodian operates motorized cleaning equipment, follows safety requirements and company protocols, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, and supports the shift lead and team as needed. Driving to different work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with compensation of $19–$20 per hour. Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to perform the essential duties safely and satisfactorily.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share that knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of cleaning-equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Completion of all safety and task training certification.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for their duties must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Bilingual ability is a plus.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Perform hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the assigned area and cleaning equipment.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, protocols, and company requirements; stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others and use proper personal protective equipment.
Perform work assignments with other employees and fill in during staff shortages.
Support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Follow directions and respond to supervision; communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
Maintain a clean work area and professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities when necessary to perform essential functions.
