About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned areas clean and sanitary. The role performs janitorial tasks, follows a daily work schedule, maintains cleaning equipment and the assigned area, and supports the shift lead and team. The position also handles hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. Employees must follow safety requirements, use appropriate personal protective equipment, report incidents and hazardous conditions, and conduct themselves professionally with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and customers. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The listed duties and activities may change or be assigned at any time. The schedule is Thursday through Sunday, 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Compensation is $18.20–$19.20 per hour. SBM offers comprehensive benefit packages; details are available on the company website.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share that knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Complete all safety and task-training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required depending on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and complete duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily cleanliness and upkeep of the assigned area and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, protocols, company procedures, and other applicable rules.
Stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others and use proper personal protective equipment.
Perform work assignments as part of a team and complete repetitive tasks.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with the lead, supervisor, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
