About The Position

The Custodian cleans and maintains Duck Thru Food Stores facilities and performs related store operations and customer service duties. The position may include duties beyond those listed, particularly duties customary in the convenience store industry. The Custodian reports to the Store Manager for assistance and guidance and follows instructions from the Store Manager and Store Supervisor. The role is full time, averaging approximately 40 hours per week. Hours worked in excess of 40 per week are paid at one and one-half times the straight hourly rate. The position is located in Camden, North Carolina.

Requirements

Ability to operate necessary machines within the store.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds for stocking.
Ability to use safety equipment, including a dolly or hand cart, ladders, and grills or deep cooking fryers.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum building floors.
Gather and empty trash; service, clean, and supply restrooms.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures; clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents or acids according to specifications.
Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment.
Clean laboratory equipment using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
Notify managers when major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed.
Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, and apply snow-melting chemicals.
Request supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Apply insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
Clean gas pumps to the best of the employee’s ability and insert paper in the pumps.
Clean machines outside the store, such as air machines.
Provide prompt, efficient, and courteous customer service; greet and thank customers professionally and promptly.
Suggest possible purchases and promote store specials.
Follow directions from the Store Manager and Store Supervisor and comply with store dress policies.
