About The Position

The Custodian cleans public and staff spaces, administrative offices, restrooms, windows, and interior glass across the museum, Glassell School, house museums, related buildings, and museum properties. The role follows standardized practices and procedures and includes general cleaning and upkeep tasks. The position requires physical activity, the ability to work independently or with a group, and availability for overtime, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• Able to lift at least 25 pounds and perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings.
• Able to follow instructions and perform tasks efficiently.
• Able to work in a group setting and alone with minimal supervision.
• Available to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, with as much advance notice as reasonably possible.
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• Previous commercial janitorial cleaning experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Clean public and staff spaces at the museum, Glassell School, house museums, related buildings, and museum properties using standardized practices and procedures.
• Clean work areas and administrative offices of the museum and museum properties.
• Clean employee and public restrooms, including disinfecting and cleaning toilets and sinks, mopping floors, polishing stainless steel surfaces, and replacing towels and soap.
• Clean windows and interior glass.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, polish, empty trash, and replace liners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
