About The Position
The Custodian performs on-site custodial work according to contract specifications. The role includes cleaning assigned indoor and outdoor areas, completing periodic custodial projects, and using light and heavy custodial equipment. The Custodian must follow safety procedures, attend required agency meetings and training, and interact professionally with employees and customers. This position is considered essential personnel and requires reporting to work during inclement weather. A potential career path is Custodian Supervisor.
Requirements
- Ability to pass pre-screenings such as background or drug screenings.
- Reliable transportation and ability to get to the job site and other sites as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, obtain assistance for weights over 50 pounds, and correctly use a lifting belt.
- Ability to work on feet for long periods and lift and move items up and down stairs.
- Ability to learn and perform custodial procedures and use light and heavy custodial equipment.
- Ability to understand and consistently follow safety procedures and policies.
- Ability to convey a positive, professional image and relate to the needs of disabled and disadvantaged individuals.
Responsibilities
- Clean assigned indoor and outdoor work areas, including trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping or dust mopping, wet mopping, and disinfectant cleaning of restrooms.
- Assist with periodic work such as stripping and sealing floors, carpet cleaning, and window washing.
- Learn and perform custodial procedures and techniques and use light and heavy custodial equipment.
- Attend required agency meetings and training sessions.
- Understand and consistently follow required safety procedures and policies.
- Convey a positive and professional image to employees and customers.
- Relate to and understand the needs of disabled and disadvantaged individuals.
- Lift up to 50 pounds; use assistance for weights over 50 pounds and always use a lifting belt correctly.
- Work on feet for long periods and lift and move items up and down stairs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Report to work during inclement weather as essential personnel.
