About The Position

Perform a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related facilities. The work is performed in the evenings after 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and cleaning duties take place outside regular office hours. Work is primarily indoors, with occasional travel between sites. The position involves exposure to dust, grease, odors, and cleaning agents, and requires shift work to minimize disruption to daily operations.

Requirements

• Pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check.
• Have a current, valid driver’s license.
• Qualify for SFA’s commercial automobile insurance.
• Know methods for cleaning and preserving floors, walls, and fixtures.
• Know cleaning materials and disinfectants.
• Know occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Know how to operate common janitorial equipment, motorized vehicles, and power equipment.
• Be able to work independently without supervision.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be able to build good rapport with people contacted in the course of work.
• Have the physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and twist; regularly push, pull, lift, or carry light to moderately heavy objects; occasionally handle objects over 45 pounds; and operate various equipment.

• Custodial experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and care for assigned areas and equipment.
