About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. Perform janitorial duties, hazardous waste responsibilities, and operate motorized cleaning equipment. Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area, report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor, and comply with all safety rules and procedures. This role involves performing work assignments in a team, handling repetitive tasks, and maintaining a clean work area while following all company protocols and procedures. The Custodian must also take direction, respond to supervision, and communicate professionally with colleagues and customers. They may also fill in during staff shortages and support shift leads. A professional appearance and conduct, understanding of customer service, and reporting systems are expected.

Requirements

  • No specific education requirement
  • 3-6 months training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
  • Completed all safety and task training certification.
  • May be required to be forklift certified.
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with team
  • Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Responsibilities

  • Perform janitorial duties
  • Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
  • Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste.
  • Operate motorized cleaning equipment
  • Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
  • Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Stop at risk behavior of others and self
  • Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
  • Perform repetitive tasks
  • Maintain clean work area
  • Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
  • Take direction and respond to supervision
  • Talk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
